Pre-Session Prep

Set an Intention

 Take a moment to think about what you want to focus on in the session, whether it's a specific issue or general emotional state.

Jot Down Feelings

Quickly write down any emotions, thoughts, or events from the past week that may be relevant for discussion.

Visualize the Session

Imagine having a positive and productive conversation, setting the mental stage for the session. 

Focus on a Memory

 Briefly identify a past memory or feeling you’d like to work on in EMDR. Think about how it makes you feel in the present moment and be ready to explore it.
 

Ground Yourself

 Take a moment to ground yourself before the session by paying attention to your surroundings. Notice the sensations of your feet on the floor, your hands in your lap, and your breath. This helps to stay present and calm during the EMDR process.

Walk + Talk Session

If you’ll be doing a Walk + Talk session, here are a few things to keep in mind:
Think of this as therapy on the move—designed to support your mental health while getting your body moving. Choose a safe, quiet place where you can walk and talk freely—whether that’s your neighborhood, a nearby park, or even a treadmill at home. For the best experience, please:

  • Make sure your phone is fully charged
     
  • Connect your earbuds or headphones ahead of time
     
  • Check that your signal is strong enough for a phone or video call
     
  • Dress comfortably and bring water if you’ll be outdoors
     
  • Map out your walk ahead of time—familiar paths are best so we can focus on your goals, not your GPS

    Do you accept insurance?

    No, I do not accept insurance directly, and all in-person visits are private pay only. However, you can get a superbill or access either of the platforms listed on this page, Headway or ALMA for possible insurance coverage through those sites.

    What is a superbill?

     

    A superbill is a detailed receipt that includes all the information your insurance company needs to process an out-of-network claim. It lists services provided, dates, fees, provider credentials, and billing codes.

    How do I get my superbill?

    Superbills will be sent automatically by secure email or through the client portal. If you need an additional copy, simply email the office. Email counselor@northdallascounselor.com 

    How can I submit my superbill to my insurance company?

     

    Option 1: Use Thrizer (Recommended)

    • Visit www.thrizer.com
       
    • Create an account and upload your superbill
       
    • Thrizer submits the claim and follows up on your behalf
       
    • Cost: $2 per session

    Option 2: Submit it Yourself

    • Log in to your insurance company’s member portal
       
    • Look for the “Submit a Claim” or “Out-of-Network” section
       
    • Complete any required forms and upload your superbill
       
    • You may also mail the documents—check your provider’s instructions
